Our keys were ready for pick up yesterday at 2 PM, but I waited for Mike to come home from work so that we could go to the lawyer's office together. It ended up actually only being "key", not keys. The rest of the keys were left on the kitchen counter of the house with a note.
We took all of my plants and some cleaning supplies to the new house. The previous owners were nice enough to vacuum after moving their stuff out, and also left us a little bottle of champagne with a note to enjoy our new house. That was a pleasant surprise! They did however scuff up the walls a little, so unless we can cover it up with our furniture, we might have to repaint the entire main floor, excluding the kitchen which is a different colour. They even left us the key box that they didn't paint behind. Pretty funny! I should take a photo of this key box that was hung off-level and has a different coloured wall behind it. Upon closer inspection, the two ladies must not have owned a level at all because there were a lot of things hung crooked... from the thermostat pannel to the closet shelves. Easy to fix, and kind of amusing. They also forgot to leave us the garage door remotes, which I am sure was an honest mistake. We'll call them today and we'll swap them for the mail they forgot to check before leaving.
I want to move in right away! Right now the only tennants are my plants. Our big furniture moving day is the 11th, so we'll have to wait until then. Today we'll probably head over there to drop off some of the more awkward items to move. Tomorrow we are having our ducts and furnace cleaned as well as the front door re-keyed. You never know who out there has a key!
We wanted to take a picture of us in front of the "sold" sign, but there was only the two of us. I hope the realtor leaves it there long enough for us to find someone to take a photo. Yay!
